The SDBA's first priority is to support and leverage investment from local businesses to improve their buildings. This strategy increases not only the amount of financial investment in our commercial districts, but also increases the number of people and businesses who are stakeholders in our community. Our commercial renovation matching grant program generates, on average, six dollars for every dollar of direct SDBA investment.
The SDBA also acts as developer in key projects where the private market is not yet ready to invest. The Odd Fellows Hall is a historic renovation project, while the Vernor-Livernois project will be new construction for regional shopping.
