Small Business Technical Assistance
The SDBA works with people who want to improve their buildings, find a new location, or secure technical assistance to grow their business. We broker services to investors looking to bring new businesses into the community. The SDBA provides direct assistance to existing and new business owners with development plan reviews, permitting, zoning, and the historic district review process.
The SDBA also
helps area businesses reach each other and residents.
Through their SDBA membership, businesses can market themselves to
the area’s 2,300 businesses and 100,000 resident customer base.
We use our Geographic Information System (G.I.S.), a specialized
database and computerized mapping initiative, to support business
development in Southwest Detroit. It
is used to identify development sites, examine current property uses, and
to plan more effective community development strategies.
