Weed & Seed

There's no single measure that will put an end to crime. What there are, however, are proven methods for discouraging it from taking hold. The Weed & Seed program in Southwest Detroit is designed to provide just such an effect throughout the area. Weed & Seed is a federally-funded collaborative of organizations/agencies in Southwest Detroit District's Sector 5.

The idea is root out illegal activities while planting positive elements into the community. SDBA, as Steering Committee Member and former Community Policing Subcommittee Chair, has been involved in brokering and strengthening the relationship between residents and the DPD.  This has been accomplished through Anonymous Incident Reports, assisting Block Clubs, overseeing community surveys, and various other methods.
